The World
At the core of the cosmos lies an unfathomable galaxy. Within this galaxy, there exists a world chosen by the truest divinity. This world is known as Aeros. Illuminated by a white sun and surrounded by three moons, Aeros dwells at an epicenter of the God Arks. By divine judgment, all energies are interconnected to this planet and flow everlasting.
First to be noted is the Oceanus Aeternus (lt. Eternal Ocean). The ocean begins towards the planet center and expands throughout the continents, grasping all land. In its infinite glory, all inferior bodies of water return to its grace. Infinite in mystery, the ocean’s cerulean waters full depths are unreachable and uncharted. A majority of the ocean is uninhabited yet life prospers in the depths; ranging from simple fish and crustaceans to more predatory creatures. The coral reefs of the shallows represent the most vivid and spectacular of the sea life, whereas the dark depths hold creatures both large and frightening.
The core of Oceanus Aeternus is truly a marvel. Underneath the “Floating City,” lies a phenomenon, a nonpareil anomaly. This anomaly, the Paragon, is characterized by blackness and dazzling lights. It appears to be an end to the planet; a two-sided mirror to the universe. A breathtaking sight, it appears to be a view of a distant universe; spiraling galaxies and bright stars definite its contents. The roaring torrents of water perpetually fall into the mysterious paragon. In monumental amounts of mist, the water simply fades away. What is to follow is unknown. (Even though the water is incessantly drained, the Oceanus Aeternus remains complete).
Next, are the majestic and awe-inspiring Soratodai Mountians (lt. Sky Prison Mountains). Its grey-brown peaks challenge the sky in height and its base strong and unconquerable. The lofty, snowcapped peaks offer a sight unlike any other; the entire Sovereign nation is said to be visible. During nightfall’s embrace, a vivid whirl of vibrant colors dances and fluctuates across the night sky; an Aurora. The base exterior of the mountains gives off natural warmth in which heats the water that flows between them. This phenomenon creates hot springs in which wildlife use as a luxury. Modeling the wildlife, the Sovereign people have the springs irrigated throughout the city. Within, the mountains offer invaluable natural resources. Courtesy of the city inscribed into the face of the mountain, Artifex Elementum, there is a complex of mine shafts that exploit these resources. These catacomb-esque pathways are similar to a labyrinth and if one is unfamiliar with them they may be lost forever.
Barren and devoid of vegetation, the craggy surface of the volcanic region is inhospitable due to its natural furnaces. Jet streams of heat launch for the great chasms. All the more threatening are the immense volcanoes. Two super volcanoes tower above other small, less dignified volcanoes. Seeping from the chasms and great divides is molten hot magma. This establishes ravines and streams of lava that spew over the landscape. What is more, the crevices and niches within this territory release various noxious gases. If one is not careful, they will fall unconscious and die. The only creatures able to reside in this area are lizard-like creatures ranging from Dragons to humanoid reptilians.
Untouched and unperturbed for ages are the Everlasting Forests. Distinguished by its sprawling jungles and endlessly green forests, they are brimming with unique flora and fauna. The foliage is vivid, exquisite and exotic. The forests feature basic moss to prehistoric gargantuan carnivorous plants. Each tree is close together leading to a dense, thick brushed forest. The diversity among the different forms of wildlife is great; from simple organisms similar to squirrels to reptilian-avian creatures. Held in the center of the forest is the pinnacle of nature. A utopian microcosm of the forest is a massive tree that towers over all others; produced by the conjoining of hundreds of trees twisting and weaving with each other to become one entity. Its leaves are a striking green and it is said when the wind blows a harmonious song is sung. Dangling from its long, thick branches are vines holding bulbs crafted of intertwining petals. The many colored petals craft a sphere that, at night, emits a soft light. Furthermore, the roots of this behemoth of a tree are said to be the origin of all others. It is said that the entire forests’ trees owe their nativity to this one. Another special characteristic of the tree is that is emanates a tranquil, sanctuary imposing aura. Within the auras confines, any weak willed or low powered being is viable to become sleepy and peaceful; feeling no desire, need or ability to harm.
The Aliquam Desert maintains the title of having the hottest and driest environment in Aeros. It is nothing more than mile after mile of barren sand, devoid of any oasis. The daytime heat is intense and insalubrious and the nights are frozen and insufferable. Only a select few are mentally and physically capable of surviving in this desert, let alone navigating through it, for an extended period of time. The sand appears golden and the light’s reflection upon it plays tricks on the weary travelers. Sparse and scattered villages lie on the outskirts of the desert, never daring to enter too far into the expanse. The only known life there is similar to that of dinosaurs, in that they are large and reptilian. Also, there are colossal insects and scorpions that live among scattered, scanty cacti.
There are several well-known myths regarding the Aliquam:
During the end of their reign, the original five thrones banded together. As a group, they entered the harsh environment of the desert. No one ever saw them again. It is a common belief, though, that they did not perish by the desert and its climate. Instead, the thrones conquered the desert. It is believed the thrones erected a city at the heart of the desert, beneath the sands. This city is believed to be awe-inspiring and magnificent to such an extent that it rivals the “Floating City.” All explorations in hopes to prove this myth have been unsuccessful.
Another belief of the Sovereign people is of a great beast that dwells within the sands. Believed to have been created by the Thrones, their immortal essence is a colossal manticore. A bipedal beast with the head of a lion, a fur covered humanoid body, wings of a dragon, the tail of a scorpion and feline claws. It roams the center of the desert with purposes unknown.
Plains, grasslands and fields; the crossroads in which all trade and travel routes meet. The in-betweens of all other geographical landmarks are the sole purpose of these fields. Surrounding the deserts are savannah-like expanses. They feature few trees, small brush and dry grasses. On the other hand, the fields surrounding the forests, and other non-desert locations, would be more inclined to be grasslands and plains. Those receive high to medium amounts of rainfall and therefore grow large grasses, brush and flowers. This land is optimal for farming and surrounds most of the cities.
